Sehgal Foundation established community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat (Voices of Mewat) in 2012 to provide a media platform for local community voices in Nuh (earlier Mewat) district, Haryana. Currently, the station reaches out to over 225 villages in and around Nuh. The station caters particularly to the local voices. It broadcasts in the local language in an accessible way, so that listeners can learn about, discuss, and debate local issues.
On the World Radio Day, Alfaz-e-Mewat did a special programmes on the importance of diversity in radio programming. Children were invited to the station to share their dreams and what they would like to be in the future.
On Coronavirus (Covid-19), Alfaz-e-Mewat has focused primarily on the authenticity of the information. The team is inviting medical officers and other experts to provide authentic information to community members on how to flatten the spread of the pandemic. The station is also broadcasting government messages on Covid-19 to keep the community informed and updated. This audio is compiled by Alfaz-e-Mewat.
