The UNESCO Chair on Community Media, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) conducted two workshops towards developing a CR-Continuous Improvement Toolkit (CIT), on March 29-30, 2013 and April 25-26, 2013, respectively. The first workshop, designed as a consultation, had representatives of community radio stations from across India deliberating on components and contents of the toolkit and drawing up parameters across sections ranging from programming and content to financial sustainability to community participation.
The second workshop brought together resource persons and representatives of some community radio stations that had not participated in the first workshop, to validate and improvise on the draft toolkit. The latter workshop was attended by Dulal Chandra Biswas, Director General, Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) of Ministry of Information and AHM Bazlur Rahman, CEO, BNNRC, who expressed interest in customising the toolkit for Bangladesh. More on that here. John Goslino, Principal Consultant, Audience Dialogue & The E-Business Activators also participated in the workshop. The toolkit is developed for self-administration by CR stations and once field-tested, will be available in the public domain for their use.
