The Chair raised important questions on the possibilities and challenges of using media for rural development, in India and the rest of South Asia, at recent events. Prof. Vinod Pavarala delivered a keynote address titled, ‘Beyond the Dominant Paradigm: Some Challenges and Possibilities,’ at the National Seminar on Social Media Interventions for Rural Development: Strategies and Approaches,  on November 1-2, 2012, National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad.

This was followed by a paper on ‘Community Radio Scenario in South Asia and Possibilities for Rural Development,” at the Regional Training-cum-Workshop on IEC Strategies for Rural Devel opment organized by the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) in Hyderabad, on November 8, 2012. The participants included those from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
