The UNESCO Chair on Community Media co-hosted a session on ‘Role of local/community media’ at the two-day International Symposium on ‘Catastrophes and Constructing Communities,’ organized by the National Museum of Ethnology, Osaka, November 16-17, 2012. Those who attended the session included: Mr. Ashish Sen, President, AMARC Asia-Pacific; Mr. Imam Prakoso, Combine Resource Institution, Indonesia; Dr. Uadit Virojtraitrratt, Civil Media Development Institute, Thailand; Ms. Shizuyo Oshitomi, Community Radio FMYY, Kobe, Japan; and Dr. Seiko Sugimoto, Kyoto Bunkyo University.  Prof Vinod Pavarala also delivered a keynote address on ‘Community Radio as a Tool for Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management.’
