In 2009, the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) started its own community radio station, Rudi No Radio (RNR) in Manipur village of Sanand, Gujarat. RNR broadcasts eight hours of programme daily on different themes related to the local community. In order to observe this year’s World Radio Day on the theme ‘Radio and Diversity’, a team from RNR went out to Gujarat University and interacted with the students of mass communication about the importance of radio. The team also explained to them, the importance of community media in general and community radio in particular. This audio also talks about the kinds of programmes being broadcast by RNR on Coronavirus (Covid-19) to sensitise and inform people about the global pandemic. In the audio shared below, the detailed narration is given by the staff of RNR.
